The Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is preparing for a comprehensive review of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (ASEL) in 2025-26.
This project provides an opportunity to research topics that will likely be considered, and those of interest to industry, and gather evidence and information related to them. This will be done through data analysis, literature reviews and engagement with stakeholders.
This will support the livestock export industry’s preparation for the review process, and the effective use of available research outcomes, data and industry information to contribute to the development of evidence based and best practice regulation.
This project is managed by the Livestock Export RD&E Program, a collaboration between LiveCorp and Meat & Livestock Australia.
Compile technical information guided by the issues list provided by DAFF, industry identified matters, scientific research outcomes, and consultant-identified areas.
Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, consultation with industry stakeholders and technical experts to gather evidence and information to prepare the technical papers.
Compose a final report that will be a valuable resource for stakeholders that wish to seek technical information in preparation for DAFF’s upcoming ASEL 4.0 Review.
Gathering evidence and detailing scientific research, data analysis, relevant industry information and cost evaluations relating to issues likely to be addressed, provides an opportunity to identify gaps as well as help provide industry stakeholders with relevant information in preparation for the ASEL 4.0 review.
