LiveCorp Accredited Stockpersons play an important role in caring for livestock on board export ships, as they are responsible for the management of the animals’ health, welfare and physical needs.
They also take on significant responsibilities, such as administering medication and reporting to the regulator on the health and performance of the livestock, for voyages where a veterinarian is not required to be on board.
The new Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (ASEL 3.0) coming into effect on 1 November 2020 will impact their role, as well as other aspects of the voyage such as stocking density.
LiveCorp is therefore requiring that all currently accredited stockpersons complete an online training module, to ensure they are aware of the changes, in advance of any voyages undertaken on or after 1 November 2020.
It will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete and consists of a video presentation, accompanying handout, and an online assessment which they have to pass to maintain their accreditation.
Ongoing professional development is an important part of the LiveCorp Shipboard Stockperson Accreditation Program, to ensure continuous improvement in outcomes and livestock management.
Meanwhile, training is also available for anyone seeking assistance to understand the LIVEXCollect system, which has been developed by LiveCorp to meet the regulator’s Daily and End-of-Voyage reporting requirements under ASEL 3.0.
Group and one-on-one sessions are being offered throughout October to better understand how to use the reporting tools. There is also short introductory video, and a detailed user manual is close to release. They are available to eligible users on the LiveCorp website, once logged in.
